Jake Thompson, born on May 4, 1984, grew up in Queens Village, NY.  He attended Holy Cross High School in Flushing, NY.  In his junior year, the work he produced in his TV Production class made him realize that he wanted to be a storyteller.  Discovering that he wanted to make movies, he decided to pursue it in college.  An important factor in his decision to pursue filmmaking was winning the 2001 TV Production Award in his junior year.

After graduating from Holy Cross, he attended Hunter College in Manhattan where he majored in Media Studies (but took as many if not more film classes) and also minored in English.  He has written numerous screenplays and has also worked on many short stories as well.  Some of the directors who have influenced him include Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, Martin Scorsese, and Alfred Hitchcock.  His filmography includes work as an art department intern on the independent feature PREMIUM.  He wrote, produced, cast, shot, edited, did some voice-over work, and directed his short film UNIMATRIX 384.  He also worked as a script supervisor, a PA, and as an extra on the independent feature IMPUNITY.  IMPUNITY was a film he collaborated on with a number of his friends, two of which (Zac Petrillo and Chris Purcell) also co-wrote and co-directed the film, and whom considered Jake a key figure behind the scenes.

Jake continues to work on his short stories as well as his screenplays.  He has a few short films in the works (as evidenced in the left column), and he hopes that he’ll be able to get the opportunity to transition to feature films some day.
